Driver and Ground Handler

About the Role
You will be responsible for driving a mix of vehicles, from cars and minibuses to rigid and articulated LGVs, depending on the task. Your primary objective will be to ensure RAF personnel, vehicles, and equipment reach their destinations safely and on time. This is a structured driving role on a unique RAF site, offering variety and the chance to be part of a dependable team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transporting recruits and station personnel between units and the local area using a range of vehicles.
- Conducting detailed monthly checks of the vehicle fleet and reporting any defects to the Transport Control Office.
- Preparing vehicles for special events, such as graduation days.
- Adhering to company policy regarding uniform provision and wear.
Working Hours and Location:
This is a full-time, permanent position based onsite at RAF Benson, near Oxfordshire. You will work an average of 40 hours per week, with shifts including early (06:00 - 15:00), day (08:30 - 17:30), and evening (11:00 - 19:00). Shifts are planned in advance, with occasional flexibility required to meet operational needs.
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
While previous ground handling experience is not required, applicants from all LGV backgrounds are welcomed. You must possess:
- CAT B Licence
- Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) DVLA Licence Category C
- Digital Tachograph Card

Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain BPSS security clearance for this role.
