Mechanical Systems Integration & Design Engineer - Getafe, Spain
Airbus Defence & Space is seeking a permanent Mechanical Systems Integration & Design Engineer to join the Mechanical Systems Installation department at the Getafe site in Spain. You will be integrated into a multidisciplinary team responsible for the integration of Derivatives mechanical systems for a military program.
About the Role:
The Mechanical System Installation team focuses on quality and improvement related to Fuel, Hydraulic, Environmental Control Systems, and Equipment integration on aircraft. This is a dynamic area that leads digital product innovation and LEAN Design, working with an AGILE mindset. You will add value by integrating mechanical systems requirements and troubleshooting issues in production and in service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define Mechanical Systems from System Architecture.
- Specify Mechanical Components for purchasing.
- Produce Mechanical Parts Documentation for Manufacturing.
- Create Mechanical Systems Installation Documentation for assembly.
- Support various stakeholders with technical knowledge (e.g., supply chain, quality, manufacturing, production, stress analysis, airworthiness and certification).
- Challenge systems requirements and define criteria for systems segregation.
- Select components, specify them, and manage their practical application.
- Contribute to Design Manuals and Design Principles.
- Engage in Design & Product improvement activities.
- Support cross-program configuration control and cross-functional procedures.
- Design and validate mechanical system installation components and assemblies, optimizing for weight, cost, performance, production/assembly, and safety using appropriate design tools.
What We Are Looking For:
- An Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering degree or a related discipline.
- Over 7 years of experience in Engineering, specifically within a Design/Airframe Department.
- Knowledge in Mechanical Systems Installation (MSI) design, including CATIA V5.
- Professional experience as an Engineer/Designer on Fluid Systems Installations (hydraulic, fuel, pneumatics) and Equipment installations (sensors, antennas, lights, cameras, cockpit installations).
- High adaptability to work on new topics, new business, and in a network mode.
- Advanced level of English (Spanish is the mother tongue). French would be an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to propose new ideas.
