The Role
As a DBA Manager, you will be responsible for leading the delivery and performance of critical Oracle database and middleware services that underpin defence and engineering operations. Your role will ensure systems are secure, reliable, and optimised, empowering teams across the business to deliver vital programmes with confidence.
Day-to-day, you will focus on developing both technology and people capabilities. This includes guiding a team of specialists, supporting the transition to an in-house function, and playing a crucial role in delivering new digital solutions. It’s a significant opportunity to enhance your leadership skills while working on systems that are essential to national defence and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team to deliver high-performing Oracle database and middleware services.
- Manage system performance, security, and availability across critical platforms.
- Collaborate with technical teams to deliver new applications and system improvements.
- Develop project plans, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, optimisation, and best practice.
Essential Experience
- Experience managing database and middleware environments within complex systems.
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams.
- Familiarity with Oracle technologies such as WebLogic, SOA Suite, Identity Management, and modern Oracle database platforms.
- Experience working with Windows and Linux server environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to optimise performance and reliability.
Qualifications
- Relevant professional experience in database administration or IT infrastructure management.
- ITILv4 qualification or higher is desirable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National eligible to achieve and maintain SC security clearance. Additional clearances may also be required for this role.
