About the Role:
As a Commercial Officer, you will be an integral part of a collaborative and experienced Commercial team within our Underwater Battlespace (UWB) and Future Products (FP) sector. You will support Senior Commercial Officers and Commercial Managers in delivering essential commercial services that contribute to successful project and business outcomes. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to apply commercial processes aligned with business requirements and delegated authority, while gaining diverse experience across various contract types. You’ll build significant commercial and business knowledge with clear avenues for professional development within the Maritime sector and across BAE Systems.
Core Duties:
- Provide comprehensive commercial support and contract management across a portfolio of projects, programmes, and campaigns.
- Assume responsibility for routine bid activities, including the preparation of commercial proposals, reviewing contract terms and conditions, contract documentation (such as NDAs), and attending Customer meetings.
- Collaborate effectively with project teams, business development, finance, legal departments, and customers to manage contracts, attend meetings, address contract queries, generate reports, request milestone payments, and identify potential for contract growth.
- Lead the commercial bid approval process for routine bids by presenting bid packs to secure necessary approvals, engaging specialist functions as required.
- Cultivate strong stakeholder relationships, including with supply chain partners, ensuring contractual obligations are effectively managed and communicated.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in customer-facing commercial, contract administration, or supply chain environments, complemented by strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A solid understanding of core contracting principles and the ability to apply them effectively in practice.
- Good financial awareness, with the capacity to interpret pricing information and support informed decision-making.
- A collaborative approach, fostering positive relationships across teams, with customers, and with stakeholders.
