Buyer - Direct Purchasing
Rheinmetall Weapon Munitions UK Ltd (RWM UK), part of the global defence engineering company Rheinmetall AG, is establishing a new production site for large calibre barrels in Telford, Shropshire. We design, manufacture, and support military large-calibre weapon systems for both the British Army and international clients. We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join our Procurement team and play a crucial role in supporting our operations by sourcing essential materials and services.
What We Are Looking For:
The Buyer will be instrumental in supporting procurement activities across the business. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new and growing venture.
- Primary activity involves sourcing materials or services for the Business.
- Collaborate within the functional team to deliver Procurement capabilities that meet RWM UK's operational needs and maximize performance against agreed Key Performance Indicators.
- Take responsibility for the effective deployment and monitoring of Procurement processes.
- Ensure an excellent internal customer experience through functional and supplier performance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Contribute to an environment that upholds the highest ethical standards, trust, open communication, and creative thinking.
- Champion Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) performance and quality within the RWM UK supply chain.
- Actively participate in partnering activities with key suppliers and support the development of long-term supplier strategies and relationships.
- Be cognisant of and capable of participating in the creation and execution of legally-binding contractual documents (e.g., Non-Disclosure Agreements, Terms and Conditions), ensuring compliance with export control requirements. Training will be provided where necessary.
What Qualifications You Should Have:
- Knowledge of the Procurement process, ideally with past experience in buying Productive and Non-Productive materials.
- Highly motivated and self-disciplined, with the ability to work autonomously and with minimal supervision.
- Work effectively with other functional representatives, customers, and suppliers to meet operational needs and ensure quality, cost, and delivery considerations are factored into decision-making.
- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships, handle escalations, and facilitate discussions among different groups to address conflicting requirements and priorities.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks and respond promptly to line manager requests.
- Ability to quickly understand the creation of Requests for Tender and the assessment process.
- General knowledge of SAP.
- Interest in Customer/Supplier relationship management and developing relevant skill sets.
