Building and Construction Project Management Placement (12.5 months)

Join the Airbus UK Buildings & Construction project team at our Broughton manufacturing site and contribute to building the future of aviation. This Project Management internship involves leading strategic building and construction projects to develop and enhance our world-leading facility, directly supporting Airbus's key company objectives such as sustainability, increased production rates, and health & safety. As an intern, you will gain invaluable industry experience, apply theoretical knowledge, and gain insight into a potential career with Airbus. The role is part of the Facilities Management and Real Estate (FMRE UK) organization, working within a unified team responsible for a wide range of deliverables across Airbus Commercial and Airbus Defence & Space, from real estate and aerodrome management to major construction projects and maintenance.

What You Will Be Doing

You will be responsible for leading key strategic projects from initial concept and feasibility studies, through to detailed designs, specifications, construction, and final handover. You will test and develop your project management skills with the support of the team, learning new processes and tools transferable across various projects.

Main Responsibilities Include:

• Setting up and managing Multi-Functional Project Teams (MFTs) to deliver projects in accordance with Airbus Project management processes.
• Defining project scope by liaising with clients and key business stakeholders.
• Working with design teams to develop concepts and launch feasibility studies.
• Leading MFTs to develop detailed designs for Building Services for projects including plant replacement and building refurbishment.
• Developing and monitoring project delivery plans, identifying and managing risks and opportunities.
• Managing Capital Investment business cases from preparation through to project closure.
• Monitoring and reporting financial data to ensure project spend is aligned with the approved budget.
• Monitoring construction works on site, observing technical compliance and H&S matters (with supervision).
• Preparing reports, presentations, and specifications for key stakeholders.
• Supporting the digitalization of Project Management tools and processes.

Requirements

This placement is open to Undergraduates only, and it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the entire duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Studying towards a degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Building Surveying, or equivalent.
• Basic project management skills with a willingness to learn and develop.
• Excellent IT skills, including Google Suite and awareness of CAD.
• Good stakeholder management, communication, and customer focus.
• Ability to listen, understand, and communicate information effectively.
• A strong interest in self-development and finding creative solutions.
• Ability to make decisions based on evidence and a proactive mindset to challenge existing processes.
• Flexibility in a dynamic environment and adaptability to changing priorities.
• Good attention to detail.

Security Clearance

You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
