Apprentice Industrial Mechanic – Maintenance Specialization (all genders)
Airbus Helicopters Technik GmbH in Calden is seeking motivated individuals to join their team as Apprentices for Industrial Mechanics, specializing in Maintenance. With over 570 employees and a strong commitment to developing the next generation of talent, we offer a dynamic and rewarding apprenticeship program.
About the Role:
Our apprenticeship program is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of industrial mechanics within the aviation sector. You will start with a foundational training period at the Berufsbildungswerk Nordhessen in Kassel, with presence days at our Calden site. From the second year, you will be integrated into various departments at the Calden location, including Manufacturing, Assembly, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Customer Service, Test Stands, and Technical-Logistical Support.
Your Responsibilities will include:
- Reading and handling technical documentation.
- Manufacturing and maintaining components and assemblies.
- Fachgerechte disassembly and assembly according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Setting up, converting, and programming CNC machine tools.
- Identifying and resolving problems in technical systems.
- Using special tools and equipment for assembly and maintenance.
- Ensuring compliance with aviation safety and quality standards.
- Documenting work performed and maintaining maintenance logs.
- Learning various crack testing procedures and hydraulic-pneumatic principles.

What you bring:
- At least a good secondary school leaving certificate (Haupt- or Realschulabschluss) or a (Fach-)Abitur.
- Manual dexterity and a strong interest in technology.
- Good spatial reasoning abilities.
- Familiarity with common MS Office programs.
- Reliability and diligence as a team player.
- Very good German language skills and at least basic English skills, with a willingness to improve.
Career Development:
After completing your apprenticeship, diverse further training options are available, such as becoming a Master, Technician, or Bachelor of Engineering, as well as Certifying Staff or NDT Inspector.
Apprenticeship Duration:
The standard apprenticeship duration is 3.5 years. With very good performance or relevant prior education, it may be possible to take the final exam with the IHK after 3 years.
