About the Role
At Babcock, we are dedicated to creating a safe and secure world. As an Aircraft Inspector at MoD Boscombe Down, near Salisbury, Wiltshire, you will be instrumental in supporting our aircraft engineering and flight-line operations. This role is vital for ensuring scheduled servicing and maintenance activities are carried out to the highest standards across our aircraft fleet.
You will work collaboratively with Licensed Aircraft Engineers and technical teams, contributing to the safety, quality, and airworthiness of our aircraft. This is a dynamic aviation environment, offering an exciting opportunity to support critical flying operations and develop your expertise in aircraft maintenance, inspection, and ground operations.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Carrying out scheduled and corrective maintenance activities across the aircraft fleet.
- Supporting aircraft handling, flight-line operations, and daily aircraft preparation activities.
- Completing aircraft and equipment maintenance documentation in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Conducting pre-use checks and scheduled maintenance of ground support equipment.
- Providing technical support across other sites and participating in operational detachments when required.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience:
- Experience preparing aircraft for flight operations, including aircraft marshalling, fuel and oil replenishment.
- Experience working within a military or civilian Part 145 maintenance environment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and customer-facing skills.
- Leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience.
- Good IT literacy and experience maintaining technical records.
Qualifications:
- Recognised Aircraft Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in an aerospace discipline.
- Demonstrable practical and theoretical aircraft engineering knowledge.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Military or civilian aircraft engineering experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) / Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance.
