About the Role

Airbus is seeking enthusiastic undergraduates to join our Public Affairs team for an internship offering a comprehensive understanding of the business. This role provides a unique opportunity to work across all three Airbus divisions, engaging with government and policymakers. Interns will gain exposure to complex business operations and potentially visit various UK sites.

Internship Positions:

Three internship positions are available, located in Broughton (North Wales), Filton (near Bristol), and London.

Broughton, North Wales:

Support the Public Affairs lead for Wales, focusing on advanced manufacturing, productivity, and engagement with local government officials. Responsibilities include supporting VIP visits to Airbus sites in Broughton and Newport.

Filton, Bristol:

Assist the Public Affairs lead for Filton and the South West, concentrating on commercial aircraft, R&T, innovation, decarbonisation, and skills policy. This role involves supporting VIP visits to the Filton site.

London:

Join the UK Public Affairs team in London, engaging with the UK government and Parliament on policy areas relevant to Commercial Aircraft, Defence & Space, and Helicopters. This position involves working on various policy areas and campaigns.

What You Will Be Doing

This internship involves a variety of tasks requiring research, analytical, project management, and communication skills.

Political Relations:

  • Provide support to the UK Public Affairs team, including senior management, on executive briefings.
  • Attend policy and committee hearings in Parliament and other relevant events.
  • Coordinate stakeholder mapping and management.
  • Assist with VIP visits and the planning and execution of Public Affairs events.
  • Produce weekly political updates for senior management.

Public Policy Research:

  • Prepare Public Affairs reports.
  • Track and monitor key public policy developments affecting the company (e.g., government policy, defence, innovation, manufacturing, skills, legislation, exports).
  • Analyze policy developments and prepare briefings for internal and external use.
  • Prepare presentations on public policy issues.

Requirements

This placement is open exclusively to Undergraduates for the entire duration of the internship. Please indicate your graduation date in your application.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Currently studying towards a degree in Politics, International Relations, Economics, Government Relations, Public Policy, History, or an equivalent field.
  • A keen interest in current affairs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English and strong numeracy skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Strong organisational skills.

Security Clearance

You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. Depending on the specific role, UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control clearance may also be required.

Additional Information

This role is a 12.5-month internship commencing on 16 August 2027. Applications close on 25 October 2026.
