About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Airbus Helicopters in Marignane for a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), also known as Virtual Apps & Desktop (VAD), Technology Specialist. As a key contributor to the Information Management (IM) directorate's digital transformation, you will be part of the 'IM Infrastructures & Digital Platforms' domain within the Extended Enterprise Product Service Line. This is a dynamic and collaborative team environment where teamwork and solidarity are highly valued.
The VDI solution is a critical technical product supporting our Extended Enterprise business cases, primarily for 2D use cases. It is also central to the IT transformation for the Product LifeCycle Management (PLM) community, addressing the 3D use cases of Design Office engineers within the Airbus Digital Design, Manufacturing & Services (DDMS) program.
As the VDI Technology Specialist, you will contribute to both project and run activities, providing expert advice and delivering VDI technology solutions in close collaboration with the Extended Enterprise solution architect and VDI product manager.
Your Challenges
- Act as the VDI subject matter expert, advising on the delivery of this technology and its associated use cases for both Projects and Run phases.
- Collect, research, and propose solutions to meet requirements.
- Advise on methodologies and implementation approaches.
- Leverage deep, transferable knowledge of new and emerging VDI technologies, autonomously developing Proofs of Concept (POCs) and contributing to future IT strategies and standards.
Your Key Activities
- Deliver VDI/VAD solutions design and support solution architects in defining VDI/VAD solutions to meet business requirements within projects.
- Support the delivery of POCs.
- Define the VDI technological orientation axes for both infrastructure and services at Airbus Helicopters.
- Act as the Airbus Helicopters VDI referent, participating in Airbus Group projects or cross-divisional initiatives involving VDI technology.
- Manage and resolve the most complex technical incidents on VDI/VAD, serving as the ultimate escalation point and providing in-depth expertise for Marignane and Donauworth Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops solutions.
- Demonstrate the value of new VDI technologies to establish business cases and update company guidelines and policies regarding VDI technology use.
- Advise on specific topics related to VDI technology.
- Monitor VDI technology and support teams in its application within the Airbus Environment.
- Guide and support the selection of appropriate VDI technologies.
- Monitor VDI technological trends and leverage this knowledge to provide solutions that enhance business competitive edge.
- Make recommendations for buy versus build decisions.
- Mentor and develop team members by sharing VDI expertise and contributing to their skill development.
Your Profile
- Master's degree level (or equivalent) in Information Technology or a related field.
- VDI/VAD & Netscaler competencies (Citrix is mandatory, Omnissa Horizon is a plus) with confirmed experience in this domain.
- Strong IT background (operating systems, network, cyber security) with 5 to 10 years of experience in an IT operational environment, ensuring vision and integration within the IT landscape.
- Good understanding of business requirements, customer service orientation, and a focus on quality deliverables.
