As an L2 Support Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality 2nd line support across a diverse range of IT systems, infrastructure, applications, and services. This is a rare opportunity to join a newly formed team supporting a major Ministry of Defence programme as QinetiQ embarks on an exciting new five-year contract.

Day-to-day, you'll provide technical support, incident resolution, system maintenance, and change implementation while working closely with customers, vendors, and internal engineering teams. You'll help maintain the availability, security, and performance of critical systems operating within a highly secure environment.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Resolving incidents and service requests across a broad range of IT services and technologies.
  • Supporting system administration, maintenance, patching, and configuration activities.
  • Working closely with customers, third-party suppliers, and internal support teams to ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Implementing technical changes in accordance with established change management processes.
  • Producing accurate technical documentation, reports, and operational procedures.
  • Willingness to be part of the outside hours rota.

Essential Experience:

  • At least 3 years' experience in an IT Support, Infrastructure Support, or 2nd Line Support role.
  • Experience administering and troubleshooting Windows and/or Linux environments.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Experience patching, maintaining, and supporting enterprise systems and infrastructure.
  • Experience using ITSM and Service Desk tools within an ITIL-aligned environment.
  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts and modern IT operational practices.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Current DV (Developed Vetting) clearance.
  • Minimum of 3 years' professional IT support experience.
  • Experience working within highly secure or restricted environments.
  • All applicants must be willing to go through DV Clearance.

Working Hours and Location:

This role is 37 hours per week, based at our customer’s Hereford site, 5 days per week.
