About the Role

At QinetiQ, we are at the forefront of creating tomorrow’s defence technology. We are seeking a motivated UAS Technician to join our team at our Farnborough site. In this role, you will report to the Team Leader and be instrumental in the preparation, maintenance, and operation of a wide array of Uncrewed Systems assets for critical Test & Evaluation trials.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled and routine maintenance of Uncrewed Systems, adhering strictly to approved data and manuals.
  • Operate Uncrewed Systems competently and safely during trials.
  • Build, functionally test, repair, and disassemble Uncrewed Systems and associated payloads in accordance with approved data.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems with Uncrewed Systems and associated equipment.
  • Ensure all activities meet customer target requirements.
  • Adhere to all standards set by relevant Air Publications, OEM Manuals, QinetiQ Operating Framework, and CAA Regulatory Publications.

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience working with Uncrewed Systems in a regulated and safety-focused environment.
  • UAS flying experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with various Uncrewed Systems technologies and types.
  • Demonstrable high level of IT competence, with the ability to learn new systems.
  • Proficiency in using Online Manuals and maintenance recording solutions.
  • Possession of a Full UK Driving Licence.
  • An Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical) or completion of a relevant engineering apprenticeship.
  • Professionally registered as an Eng Tech, or capable of progressing to this level.
  • CAA Remote Piloting qualifications are highly desirable.

Working Hours and Location

This role is based at our Farnborough site and involves 37 hours per week. A minimum average site attendance of three days per week is required, with flexible working patterns available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
