About the Role
As a UAS Technician at QinetiQ's Boscombe Down site, you will play a crucial role in the future of defence technology. You will be responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and operation of a diverse range of Uncrewed Systems (UAS) assets, supporting vital Test & Evaluation trials.
Reporting to the Team Leader, your day-to-day activities will include scheduled and routine maintenance of UAS, adhering strictly to approved data and manuals. You will also operate Uncrewed Systems on which you are trained and competent.
Key Responsibilities
- Building, functional testing, repairing, and disassembling Uncrewed Systems and associated payloads in accordance with approved data.
- Operating and maintaining Uncrewed Systems during trials.
- Problem-solving and fault diagnosis on Uncrewed Systems and associated equipment.
- Ensuring all work meets Customer target requirements.
- Applying standards from relevant Air Publications, OEM Manuals, QinetiQ Operating Framework, and CAA Regulatory Publications.
Essential Experience
- 3-5 years' experience working in a regulated and safety-focused environment on Uncrewed Systems.
- UAS flying experience.
- Experience and knowledge of a variety of Uncrewed Systems technologies and types.
- Demonstrable high level of IT competence, with the ability to learn new systems.
- Experience using Online Manuals and maintenance recording solutions.
Essential Qualifications
- Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical) or completion of a relevant engineering apprenticeship.
- Professionally registered as an Eng Tech or capable of progressing to Eng Tech.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- CAA Remote Piloting qualifications (Highly Desirable).

Working Hours and Location
This role is 37 hours per week, based at our Boscombe Down site. A minimum of three days per week on-site attendance is required. Flexible working patterns are available, and travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites may be expected.
