Technical Sales Manager, International TacCIS
General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a motivated Technical Sales Manager to spearhead the international promotion and sale of our Tactical Communication and Information Systems (TacCIS). This pivotal role involves engaging with a global clientele, understanding their intricate technical challenges, and articulating the compelling value of our advanced solutions to secure high-value deals. The ideal candidate possesses a profound understanding of defense technologies, the ability to translate technical specifications into business advantages, and a proven track record of exceeding revenue targets.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the Business Development team, providing insights into competitive landscapes and industry trends.
- Collaborate closely with End Users, Customers, and Partners to capture technical requirements, validate potential solutions, and bridge the gap between user needs and technical implementation.
- Design and deliver impactful technical presentations, product demonstrations, and Proof of Concepts tailored to end-user and customer needs.
- Support proposal development and pricing strategies in partnership with product and pricing teams.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with product management, engineering, Business Development, customers, and partners to ensure solutions are feasible, correctly scoped, and delivered effectively.
- Act as a post-sale customer advocate, managing technical escalations and ensuring a seamless handover to execution teams to cultivate long-term relationships and identify upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
- Gather and analyze market intelligence, including competitor activities, emerging technologies, and customer feedback, to inform product and business development strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in B2B technical sales or solutions engineering.
- Strong technical skills with a deep understanding of Defense industry technologies (e.g., AI/ML, cybersecurity, networking, cloud). Ability to conduct system architecture reviews and translate specifications into business value.
- Proficiency in solution selling methodologies, negotiation, and contract management. Excellent presentation and storytelling abilities.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to influence multiple stakeholders.
- Self-starter with strong time management skills, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel internationally for customer visits, trade shows, and conferences.
- Experience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models is preferred.
This role is part of our Mission Systems International team and can be based in Oakdale, South Wales, with the potential for hybrid working. Travel is a requirement of this position.
