About the Role
Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a System Administrator to join the Spacecraft Control Centre Support Team in the Chippenham area, Wiltshire. Reporting to the Head of SCOF Engineering, you will be instrumental in the command and control of various spacecraft constellations. The Spacecraft Control & Operations Facility (SCOF) encompasses all ground equipment, computers, software, and connectivity necessary for this mission.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform general computer configuration and maintenance, including equipment swap-outs and reconfiguration.
- Act as a System Administrator expert for the installation of Spacecraft Control Centres and computer systems across the SCOF network.
- Provide ongoing maintenance of the SCCs post-handover to the customer.
- Serve as the Lead SCC Engineer for developing roll-out plans for system upgrades, enhancements, software patches, and fixes.
- Develop and implement robust test procedures and scripts in a dedicated test environment for system changes, fixes, and supplier-delivered upgrades before operational deployment.
- Utilize network skills to ensure the SCC integrates effectively with existing SCOF equipment and networks.
- Assist the SCOF Engineering team in investigating and rectifying SCOF system problems raised through internal tracking processes.
- Ensure all system changes are implemented in accordance with relevant configuration management procedures.
- Maintain Software License records.
- Maintain regular contact with the customer regarding issue investigation and fault rectification.
About You
- Possess a valid and current Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) qualification.
- CISCO CCNP or CCNA certification is desirable.
- Demonstrate experience working in a System Administration role.
- Experience managing a CISCO Network role.
- Experience supporting high availability systems, with a focus on Linux-based hardware and software, is preferred.
- Good knowledge of IP networking and familiarity with Cisco networking devices.
