Software Engineer - Mission Systems

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join the Software Mission Systems Team at Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe, Madrid. You will be integrated into a Stream-Aligned product team, contributing to Research & Development and core product initiatives aimed at enhancing mission system capabilities through next-generation technologies. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver continuous value in high-performance distributed environments and build state-of-the-art software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, write, and maintain clean, efficient, and modern C++ code on Linux platforms.
  • Implement data-centric communication interfaces and network architectures using DDS middleware technologies.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain responsive graphical user interfaces (GUIs) leveraging the Qt framework.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of customer-facing features using Trunk Based Development and continuous value stream models.
  • Ensure high software quality by implementing Test Driven Development (TDD), including unit, integration, and regression tests.
  • Design and implement technical documentation, including software architectures, API contracts, and DDS data models.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, particularly in high-performance applications.
  • Proficiency in modern C++ (STL, object-oriented design), Linux environments, CMake, and Git.
  • Advanced written and spoken English and Spanish.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative team spirit.
  • Ability to work effectively in complex, international, and multicultural environments.

Valuable Additional Experience:

  • Experience with the Qt framework (Quick, QML, or Widgets).
  • Familiarity with DDS (Data Distribution Service).
  • Experience with testing frameworks such as GoogleTest or Catch2.
