About the Role
QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) is seeking a Stores Person for a 6-month fixed-term contract to join their Stores Team in Ashford, Kent. QTS specialises in state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, used globally for weapons test and evaluation and operator training.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Stores Person, you will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency by supporting various logistics functions. Reporting to the Stores Lead, your duties will include:
- Receiving and accurately processing incoming goods within the ERP system.
- Kitting components and assemblies according to production needs.
- Securely packing goods and ensuring all necessary documentation is included.
- Assisting with stock control activities, including stock checks and maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Operating a forklift truck (where required).
- Maintaining accurate system records and ensuring data integrity.
- Contributing to Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Upholding high standards of housekeeping, health, and safety.
What You'll Need
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a stores or warehouse environment, preferably within manufacturing. You should be organised, reliable, and committed to accuracy and safety, with good communication skills and a team-oriented approach. Essential requirements include:
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Knowledge of health & safety practices, including manual handling and hazardous goods.
- Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A team-focused, proactive approach.
- Experience operating a forklift truck (a valid Forklift Truck licence is desirable).
Desirable experience includes:
- Using an ERP or stock management system (including barcoding).
- Using a vertical storage system.
- Working within a Continuous Improvement environment.
