About the Role
The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is seeking a Primary Flight Control Systems Development Specialist to join our Aircraft Control team based in Mirabel, Québec, Canada. This role offers a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with European Flight Control development teams in France and Germany, contributing to the core development of the A220 Primary and Secondary Flight Control System.
The team is structured to foster autonomous cross-collaboration, mutual support, and collective learning. As a Specialist, you will be instrumental in the detailed design of the Control and Monitoring aspects of the A220 primary flight control system, encompassing requirements definition, design, and associated validation and verification activities. This position is ideal for individuals with a background in Flight Control systems and aeronautics who are eager to advance their skills and contribute to innovative aerospace projects.
Your Challenges
- Participate in the primary FBW flight control system development on the A220 aircraft.
- Determine system-level and component-level requirements to fulfill aircraft technical objectives.
- Perform validation of functions through design review, simulation/modeling (Matlab/Simulink), and testing on various rigs (desktop, simulator, system level).
- Conduct technical investigations, analyze issues, and develop solutions.
- Maintain system interfaces with other aircraft systems.
- Participate in defining flight control system or component architecture.
- Perform trade studies to optimize design solutions.
- Utilize DevOps tools and manage the development cycle for assigned functions.
- Evaluate and approve designs from internal and external suppliers through validation and verification processes.
- Coordinate with various Integrated Product Teams/Suppliers and departments for design, validation, verification, testing, and certification.
- Support certification authorities.
Your Boarding Pass
- Proactive individual with a strong interest in the aerospace industry and systems integration.
- University degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
- Good knowledge of the specification, design, integration, testing, and certification of flight control systems and/or components.
- Experience with development processes based on ARP4754, including requirement decomposition.
- Knowledge of DO-178 and familiarity with FAR 25 / CS 525 certification processes.
- Experience with the A220 flight control system (primary or secondary) is an asset.
- Good organizational and planning skills.
- Proficiency in simulation using Matlab and Simulink.
- Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is an asset.
- Experience of a complete development cycle from preliminary design to entry into service is an asset.
- Strong communication skills in both French and English (written and spoken).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, managing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to obtain clearance for export-controlled documents.
