Role Overview
We are looking for a Delivery / Project Manager to join our team in Cheltenham. This operational role requires a strong understanding of various project and delivery management tools and techniques. You will leverage your knowledge of the customer's domain to provide relevant assistance, improve working practices, and assist in developing solutions. The role involves providing financial guidance, tasking, understanding, and advice across specialist deliveries crucial to the customer’s mission.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the financial management of projects, including understanding of risk and cost mitigation for delivery.
- Responsible for the profitability of the project, and identifying and raising potential opportunities to increase profitability.
- Responsible for delivering the project within the contracting constraints, including to time, budget and quality for T&M and FP contracts.
- Responsible for the performance of the team, both from a customer deliverable perspective and a commercial perspective.
- Responsible for building and maintaining a high-performing team, ensuring they are motivated, collaborating, and working effectively.
- Maintain delivery momentum by focusing the team on the most important current project priorities.
- Encourage and facilitate continuous improvement within the delivery team.
- Coach and mentor team members to apply the most appropriate agile and lean tools and techniques.
- Utilise customer relationships to identify potential areas for new opportunities.
- Identify and develop opportunities for research and development work, feeding them directly to the Account Leads.
- Responsible for organic growth within allocated projects.
- Apply an understanding of customer problems by working with technical subject matter experts (SME) to determine the appropriate use of existing capabilities or the need for new ones.
- Cultivate and contribute to company strategy by maintaining knowledge of key senior stakeholder relationships.
Key Criteria Required
- Proven experience in Delivery/Project Management roles, with evidence of collaborative working.
- Recent experience supporting IT/Software/Cyber projects in Government or similar organisations.
- Experience within a Defence or Cyber environment.
- Working knowledge of methodologies including PRINCE2, Agile Project Management (APM), and Managing Successful Programmes (MSP).
- A degree of responsibility and knowledge within the Account, including setting strategy, defining processes, and influencing decisions.
- Experience in project closedown, including performance reviews, lessons learned, and ensuring reusable artefacts are updated or generated for process improvement.
- Skills in influencing and negotiation methods and techniques.
- An adaptive communication style, capable of conveying technical ideas in simple terms to multiple stakeholders.
- Must hold and maintain UK Government clearances.
