Role Overview
An opportunity for a Software Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Software Mission Systems Team, which is responsible for building the future of our development ecosystem through infrastructure automation and software enablement.
The jobholder will contribute to core programs and platform initiatives, supporting strategic projects such as our internal PaaS roadmap, alongside building the foundational tools, automation systems, and virtual labs that empower our entire development team to deliver mission-critical software safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and implement robust CI/CD pipelines and automated quality integration (code analysis, linters, and GUI testing frameworks).
- Develop and implement software architecture, APIs, and internal tooling for our internal PaaS to enable seamless self-service application deployment.
- Create and deploy automated virtualized test environments using containerization (Docker, Podman) and hypervisors (KVM, QEMU) to simulate production setups.
- Automate infrastructure deployment flows using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and advanced scripting (Bash/Python) to achieve "one-command" environments.
- Optimize virtual network architectures and middleware (DDS) to support high-throughput, real-time distributed data communications.
- Produce technical documentation, including platform architecture designs and developer self-service guides.
Skills and Experience
- Education: Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience: At least 5 years in Software Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering.
- Technical Knowledge: Linux Systems Administration, network configuration, Python/Bash scripting, and experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins).
- Valuable: Familiarity with C++ build ecosystems (CMake), Qt framework, and DDS (Data Distribution Service) implementations.
- Soft Skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills, team spirit, and the ability to work in complex, international, and multicultural environments.
- Languages: Advanced level in English & Spanish (both written and spoken).
