About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Software Architect or a senior software engineer with strong design skills looking to advance their career. You will be the author of the full software architecture, working closely with software delivery teams to define and monitor the Structural and Temporal Architecture, including the Internal/External interfaces of the product to meet requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, document, and take responsibility for the design drivers for the software solution, considering aspects such as real-time performance, safety, security, user experience, simplicity, reusability, and flexibility.
- Produce derived and emergent requirements, capturing assumptions and rationale.
- Define the architecture to a point where implementation decisions do not compromise architectural integrity.
- Collaborate effectively with other Architects, Technical Specialists, and key engineering contacts, supporting wider design activities and reviews.
- Influence the Software Engineering Technology Strategy, Software Product Lines, new technologies, obsolescence, and new methods and tools by considering long-term architectural strategies.
- Participate in special interest groups and communities of interest.

- Salary: Up to circa £80,000 depending on experience.
- Working Model: Dynamic (hybrid) working, typically 3 to 4 days per week on-site.

What We're Looking For
- A strong technical practitioner, comfortable making important architectural and design decisions.
- Knowledge of modern and established software architecture techniques and design patterns.
- Experience of model-based engineering.
Security Clearance
You must be a British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks, managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.
