Simulator Systems Engineer - Hardware-in-the-Loop Team
We are seeking an ambitious engineer with a growth mind-set to join our unique Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL/HIL) team. This is a crucial role within MBDA's Missile test track, responsible for designing and maintaining complex, real-time simulations that surround real missile hardware, enabling indoor missile testing.
As a HWIL Simulator Systems Engineer, your primary responsibility will be maintaining the simulations, ensuring simulators and control systems are fit for purpose. You will be expected to be both reactive and proactive, applying your engineering skills to maintain multi-axis hydraulic motion simulators and antenna positioning systems. This role involves planned maintenance activities and corrective maintenance in response to unforeseen issues, requiring flexibility.
This is a hands-on role where physical activity is inherent. The varied nature of missile testing means you will develop a wide range of skills. You will need to adapt to new engineering situations and be comfortable abstracting detail to understand the facility simulation systems and equipment.
What we're looking for:
- Broad engineering experience with deeper experience in areas such as:
- Understanding of Hydraulic systems
- Computer Aided Design experience (CREO an advantage)
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
- Workshop skills (hand and electrical tools)
- Psychomotor skills and dexterity
- Capability of working at height
- IT literate and capable of using Management Information Systems (MIS)
- Control system theory.
