About the Role
We have an opportunity for a Simulation & Modelling Engineer to join a team responsible for the development and maintenance of performance models. These models are crucial for evaluating and proving sophisticated missile and weapon systems.
What You'll Do
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing aspects of the performance model to support key programmes, including design, implementation, testing, and documentation.
- Maintaining appropriate design records and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Integrating and verifying model components from external suppliers.
- Performing technical analyses and investigations to solve a range of issues and problems.
- Collaborating with model users to understand their needs and ensure models are fit for purpose.
Key Domains
Our department focuses on model development and maintenance in the following areas:
- Management of performance models and studies.
- Mathematical modelling of high-performance, dynamic systems (including sub-system components and system environments).
- Verification and validation of models.
Models are used for various stages, including initial feasibility studies, concept proving, design development, trade-off studies, ground testing, and post-trials analysis.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking candidates with:
- A good understanding of simulation environments (e.g., MATLAB and Simulink, or similar) and programming languages (e.g., FORTRAN, C/C++).
- An understanding of change and configuration control processes (e.g., Rational Team Concert) is considered an advantage.
- The ability to identify and solve sophisticated problems and gather necessary information to drive towards solutions.
- The ability to visualise complex data and models.
