About the Role
Rheinmetall Electronics UK Ltd. is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join their team in Newport, Isle of Wight. This full-time, permanent position focuses on proactively preventing defects and continuously improving processes within the organisation. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of products and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and investigate Production and Engineering issues, ensuring root cause analysis, containment, and effective countermeasures are implemented.
- Liaise with Supplier Quality Engineers to manage non-conforming components and provide feedback to Production or Engineering teams.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report weekly to the Quality Manager.
- Communicate findings clearly and professionally to all levels of the business, demonstrating a strong understanding of quality methodologies.
- Perform Final Inspections of finished goods and First Article Inspections.
- Create Certificates of Conformity.
- Occasionally communicate with and host representatives from Government Quality Assurance (GQA) and customers.
- Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for improvement and waste reduction.
- Lead problem-solving sessions with multidisciplinary teams.
- Document and investigate issues in a responsive manner, planning and monitoring corrective actions.
- Drive the development and implementation of preventative actions.
- Collaborate with design engineering teams to define manufacturing acceptance criteria and test/inspection methods.
- Produce, review, and amend process documentation, such as work and test instructions.
- Support auditing of internal processes and inspection of inbound/outbound goods.
- Monitor organisational activities to ensure alignment with statutory and regulatory legislation.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills:
- Proven experience in a quality-focused role.
- Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements, quality control procedures, and compliance initiatives.
- Strong understanding of technical data, including engineering drawings and wiring schematics.
- Proficiency in quality principles and tools such as process mapping, statistical quality control, Pareto analysis, lean manufacturing, kaizen, and 8D reporting.
- Familiarity with Design & Development processes.
- Familiarity with the ISO9001:2015 standard.
- Experience in the manufacture of electromechanical assemblies.
- Strong PC and MS Office skills.
- Familiarity with Test and Inspection equipment is advantageous.
- Supervisory experience is advantageous.
