Senior Manufacturing Engineer – GCAP Manufacturing Readiness
An opportunity has arisen within the FCAS Manufacturing Engineering team at Warton for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer supporting GCAP Manufacturing Readiness Assessments. You will assess manufacturing capability and ensure processes meet Manufacturing Engineering requirements and programme milestones.
The role involves coordinating readiness reviews, reporting status and recovery actions, and identifying and mitigating manufacturing risks and constraints during product development. Working across Airframe, Technology Development, Supply Chain and Quality teams, you will align manufacturing capability with programme requirements and Manufacturing Readiness Levels. You will also help inform the Manufacturing Readiness strategy supporting the design and development of the Core Platform.
Core Duties
- Assess manufacturing capability, ensuring processes are developed in line with manufacturing engineering requirements to support production readiness against programme milestones.
- Coordinate readiness reviews to ensure manufacturing capability is established & de-risked ahead of programme gates, reporting readiness status and recovery actions.
- Identify and mitigate potential manufacturing risks and constraints at the early stages of product development, aligning readiness of manufacturing capability with Manufacturing Readiness Levels.
- Collaborate across disciplines with Airframe, Technology Development, Supply Chain and Quality teams to ensure alignment of manufacturing capability with programme requirements.
- Inform the Manufacturing Readiness strategy, based on program requirements and outputs from working groups associated to the design & development of the Core Platform.
Essential skills
- Applicant to hold a minimum HNC qualification and/or completed a recognised apprenticeship.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing engineering, industrialisation and/or production readiness within complex engineering environments; process development and/or production lifecycles.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, establishing and maintaining relationships across technical engineering, programme & operational teams.
- Ability to objectively assess manufacturing capability including; processes, tooling, facilities and workforce readiness against the Manufacturing Readiness Assessment criteria.

You’ll be joining a newly established team, currently comprising three people with the potential to grow, supporting Manufacturing Readiness across the GCAP Programme. Working collaboratively across Airframe, Technology Development, Supply Chain and Quality, the team helps ensure manufacturing capability is understood, developed and de-risked ahead of key programme milestones. It’s an exciting opportunity to work across the organisation and contribute to the manufacturing readiness of a sixth-generation aircraft platform.
