About the Role
Join BAE Systems as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer within the FalconWorks team, supporting a diverse portfolio of programmes including Typhoon, F-35, Hawk, and Tempest. You will be instrumental in developing digital CMM inspection processes for detailed machined components, fabrications, sheet metal parts, and small sub-assemblies. This role supports both new product introduction and in-service requirements within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
This is a varied, project-based role focused on one-off and low-volume production, ensuring no two days are the same. You will collaborate across components of all sizes, translating engineering design data into robust inspection solutions and working closely with manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality products within demanding timescales.
Core Duties
- Develop digital CMM inspection processes by translating design information (CAD models, drawings, material, and manufacturing process specifications) into inspection solutions.
- Possess a strong understanding of design for manufacture, dimensional management, and process planning.
- Utilise experience with CATIA V4/V5, LK CAMIO, and Siemens Dimensional Planning Verification (DPV).
- Apply expertise in Geometrical Dimensional & Tolerancing (GD&T) according to ISO and ASME standards.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Minimum of HNC/HND or recognised apprenticeship in Manufacturing Engineering.
- Good knowledge and experience of basic manufacturing processes and Engineering principles.
- Proven experience in the manufacturing and inspection of Machining processes.
- Familiarity with Engineering Toolsets including CATIA V5, PLM (or equivalent Product Data Manager), SAP CAM, or SFM (Shop Floor Manager), CDP, and VAS.
- Proficiency in basic CATIA V5 operation, Siemens NX, LK CAMIO Inspection or equivalent, and Siemens DPV.

The 25 Hangar Manufacturing Engineering team is a small, collaborative unit comprising a Team Lead and Manufacturing Engineers specialising in planning, NC programming, and manufacturing engineering activities. As part of FalconWorks, the team supports a broad range of projects across programmes including F-35, Typhoon, Hawk, and Tempest, offering excellent opportunities for skill development across multiple disciplines.
