Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Assembly Demo

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will translate and analyze build philosophies for alternative assembly processes for a 6th Generation aircraft. Your role will involve identifying required developments and improvements to address programme risks. You’ll create build process documentation and assist in planning and delivering demonstrators for de-risking activities.

Using Siemens NX and Teamcenter, you will develop manufacturing engineering plans, conduct trial assemblies, and assess toolset technologies. You will capture learning from these activities and recommend improvements. This role requires working with a diverse range of stakeholders while independently managing your work scope, schedule, and deliverables.

Core Duties:

• Translate and analyze build philosophies for alternate assembly processes, understanding the limitations and developments required for a 6th Gen aircraft and identifying improvements to address programme risks.
• Create build process documents for alternate assembly processes to demonstrate the viability for manufacturing a 6th Gen Aircraft.
• Work with a range of stakeholders to plan and deliver demonstrators for de-risking activities.
• Utilize Siemens NX and Teamcentre to create manufacturing engineering plans and deliver demonstrators, capturing learning and feedback for toolset development.
• Trial and assess assembly and toolset technology, making recommendations on applicability and benefit for the programme.
• Manage your own work scope, schedule, and deliverables within project objectives and provide updates to the wider team.

Essential Skills:

• Analytical mind-set with the ability to consider the long-term impact of change and potential barriers to implementing improvements.
• Understanding and experience of core manufacturing engineering competencies for planning and delivering a product.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build working relationships at all levels of the organisation.
• Confidence and ability to plan and facilitate workshops with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience of working in a manufacturing environment.

Join the GCAP Assembly Demonstrator Team and contribute to the future of combat air as part of the growing FCAS Manufacturing Engineering Team. You will support manufacturing engineering for GCAP and the UK’s national FCAS programme, collaborating with international partners in Japan and Italy, as well as Edgewing. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence manufacturing processes for the UK’s next-generation, sixth-generation combat aircraft within a rapidly expanding programme.
