About the Role

This Senior Management Accountant role oversees finance for small arms ammunition production, offering a chance to contribute to a growing and dynamic business area. You will join a collaborative team focused on innovation, continuous improvement, and best practice sharing, aiming to enhance financial performance and operational excellence across sites.

Core Duties

  • Partner with senior operational stakeholders to monitor and challenge site performance, providing insightful management reporting and actionable financial analysis to support informed decision-making.
  • Support the development of the 5-year Integrated Business Plan, contributing to workforce and cost planning, challenging assumptions, and shaping robust labour and non-labour forecasts for the manufacturing operation.
  • Deliver high-quality month-end activities, including accruals, prepayments, journals, and purchase requisition support, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
  • Maintain a strong financial control environment, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, supporting audit activities, and promoting best practices throughout the business.
  • Translate financial data into meaningful business insights, helping stakeholders understand performance, forecasts, risks, opportunities, and key operational drivers.
  • Collaborate with finance teams across the wider business, building strong relationships and ensuring clear communication of financial performance, key metrics, and strategic priorities.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering high-impact Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) in a complex business environment.
  • Proven ability to influence decision-making through robust financial insight and commercial challenge.
  • Advanced financial modelling and analytical capability, with expert Excel skills.
  • Ability to transform complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights supporting performance improvement, forecasting accuracy, and strategic planning.
  • Strong commercial and operational understanding, ideally gained within a manufacturing, engineering, or project-based environment.
  • Proven ability to partner with stakeholders, challenge assumptions, and drive business performance through effective financial leadership.

The Team

The Cost Performance team is part of the FP&A function within Munitions Finance, responsible for managing costs across Land UK manufacturing sites. The team works closely with Operations, Engineering, and Project Management to provide financial analysis and challenge that supports effective decision-making.
