Avionic Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Avionic Supervisor to undertake a range of detailed maintenance activities on aircraft or aircraft components. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to follow approved diagnostic techniques and be responsible for maintaining airworthiness through appropriate task delegation and authorisation.

This role involves the tasking of work, supervision of personnel, and ensuring the team meets agreed delivery targets at a tactical level. You will demonstrate strong people management and leadership skills, along with an awareness of broader external dependencies and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The Post Holder will also have specific privileges delegated from the Maintenance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed maintenance, inspection, and supervision activities on aircraft or aircraft components.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with the SOW/Work package and approved technical information.
• Resolve faults and maintenance issues, including configuration management.
• Supervise the team to ensure maintenance is undertaken to schedule, highlighting and escalating issues as required, and reporting on any impact to the wider programme.
• Demonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude, taking direction appropriately.
• Ensure staff are sufficiently competent and approved for allocated maintenance tasks.
• Maintain personal and team task authorisation for working on aircraft or components in accordance with AMC requirements.
• Meet agreed delivery targets in the short to medium term through the supervision of others and provide progress reporting to management.
• Provide guidance and leadership to the team, developing team members through formal assessment processes and supporting training requests.
• Possess sound and comprehensive communication and people management skills to exchange complex information.
• Scope and carry out independent and vital inspections.
• Maintain personal Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency, and sign other personnel’s Log Books as appropriate.
• Monitor the schedule and coordinate maintenance task support.
• Supervise Flight Line Mechanics in the delivery of aircraft to execute the flying programme.
• Assist in the investigation and closure of all local applicable Error Management Processes.

Key Accountabilities

• Performance Indicators: Ensure effective management of Part 145 activities by setting delivery targets, monitoring progress, and developing performance improvement programmes. Prioritise activities to maximise efficiency and represent the Maintenance Manager at management reviews where necessary. Assess escalated issues for impact on Continuing Airworthiness and generate effective resolutions or sponsor escalation.
• Completion of Activities: Ensure all Part 145 activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained. Verify that all Part 145 activities are performed by suitably qualified, experienced, and authorised personnel. Integrate Part 145 activity within the business, engaging key stakeholders. Provide support and guidance to the team(s).
• Procedure/Standards: Manage the Part 145 team(s) compliance with the Part 145 Exposition, associated procedures, and company standards. Identify, propose, and implement change while ensuring compliance.
• Safety Management System: Promote the application of Human Factors, Error Management, Risk Management, and Safety Assurance within the team(s), along with proactive hazard analysis, mitigation, and management.
• Management System Assurance: Ensure Maintenance activities comply with the AM&S Governance and Assurance framework, supporting process confirmations and independent assurance audits. Support timely responses to audit findings and provide information for relevant reviews. Support the implementation of identified improvements and monitor their effectiveness.
• Statutory/Regulatory & Legislative Requirements: Demonstrate an understanding and application of the relevant Continuing Airworthiness Regulatory framework. Support the implementation of any Regulatory-driven changes into Maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with all other requirements (e.g., ITAR, EaPW, ISO).
• Contractual Requirements: Ensure compliance with all applicable contractual requirements, supporting contract reviews and implementing any changes into Part 145 activities as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

• Academic qualification: Minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent.
• Experience: Typically 3+ years’ experience, including type rating, fully competent with all required Authorisations.
• General product knowledge/competency within own technical/subject area and basic knowledge of other areas.
• Awareness of team integration and understanding of continuous improvement.
• Relevant passes in: Hawk Composite Flight Servicing, Trade ‘Q’ Course.
• Foundation in Leadership.
• Standard Course Specification in: Human Factors, E&PW Awareness, ITAR Awareness.
• IT Literate.
