About the Role

An opportunity for a highly skilled and proactive Senior ISR Mission Systems Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, located in Getafe (Madrid). You will be joining a high-performing team dedicated to developing complex, multi-sensor mission suites for major aircraft platforms, with a specific focus on maritime surveillance and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Systems Engineering activities in the Mission Systems field.
  • Analyze customer requirements and transform them into robust design solutions.
  • Assess innovative technologies and architectures, delivering independent cost-benefit analyses.
  • Specify, integrate, qualify, certify, and ensure the continued airworthiness of Mission Systems.
  • Lead the detailed system design process, including functional requirements, modeling, subsystem specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Manage the integration and optimization of specialized sensors (e.g., Acoustic, MAD, Radar) and subsystems.
  • Oversee System Integration and Lifecycle Management within a V-shape development framework, covering the entire lifecycle from requirements capture to final equipment integration.
  • Lead Verification and Validation (V&V) activities, including product laboratory validation and supporting aircraft ground and flight testing.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to specialized suppliers throughout the procurement lifecycle.
  • Support Services and Commercial campaigns in all aspects related to Mission Systems.

Skills and Qualifications

Educational Background:

  • Degree in Aerospace, Electronic, Computer Science, or Systems Engineering.
  • A Master’s degree is highly preferred.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in ISR Mission Systems or Avionics within the aerospace or defense sector.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Expertise in ASW & Underwater Detection (Acoustic Systems, Magnetic Anomaly Detection - MAD).
  • Proficiency in Mission Computing & Avionics Integration, including high-performance computing platforms, embedded hardware, real-time environments, aeronautical data buses (e.g., MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet/AFDX), and system-level integration.
  • Experience with qualification processes for mission-critical hardware and emerging computing technologies for aerospace applications.
  • Knowledge of Aeronautical Cybersecurity and cyber-Resilience applied to mission systems and aeronautical networks, adhering to standards like DO-326A / ED-202A.
  • Familiarity with Maritime & Electronic Surveillance (Radar & Electro-optics, Electronic Warfare & Identification - SIGINT/ELINT/ESM/COMINT, AIS).
  • Experience with Tactical Datalinks (Link 16, VMF, or Link 22).
  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering & Integration, including the full development lifecycle, V&V process, functional analysis, configuration control, and complex mission architectures.
  • General knowledge of Airworthiness and Certification processes.

Language Proficiency:

  • Strong verbal and written skills in both Spanish and English are mandatory.
  • Knowledge of French is highly desirable.

Soft Skills:

  • High level of proactiveness and assertiveness.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills for complex technical troubleshooting.
  • Willingness to interact in international environments with diverse teams.

Mobility:
