About the Role:
OMNIA Training, a consortium of UK defence training organisations, is seeking a Safety & Environmental Engineer to join Rheinmetall Electronics UK Ltd. in Warminster. This is a permanent, full-time role crucial to the mission of transforming the British Army's training system and establishing it as the best-trained Army in the world. You will be instrumental in ensuring that all equipment and capabilities being trialled or introduced into the Army training system are 'Safe by Design', adhering strictly to the ACTS Safety & Environmental policy. This involves the provision of robust Safety Cases and ensuring risks are maintained as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).
What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking individuals with a mission focus and the drive to excel in a collaborative defence training environment. While a military background is not essential, a commitment to serving the mission is paramount. You will work closely with other defence training organisations and the British Army, sharing lessons learned and contributing to the overall success of OMNIA Training.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Proven experience in compiling and delivering Safety Case Reports and other essential safety documentation (e.g., plans, processes, requirements).
- In-depth understanding of common safety standards and environmental regulations, including DEFSTAN 00-056 and 07-085, Defence Safety Authority (DSA) Defence Land Safety and Environmental Regulations, DSA 01 and DSA 02 Defence Ordnance Munitions Explosives (DOME), JSP 375 and 815, and ACSO 1200.
- Ability to interpret complex technical data and construct clear, logical, and robust safety arguments.
- Experience in leading Safety Working Groups, coordinating diverse multi-disciplinary teams, and facilitating effective risk assessments.
- A self-motivated individual with a strong desire to learn new technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
