Role Overview

An opportunity for a Quality and Configuration Management Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, located in Getafe (Madrid). The successful candidate will become a vital part of the Quality & Product Assurance Team. This team plays a critical role in ensuring product conformity, regulatory compliance, and ultimate customer satisfaction across the entire aircraft life-cycle. Serving as the primary link between internal departments, civil/military authorities, and external customers, the team is instrumental in driving process improvements and upholding stringent quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main focal point within the Quality organization, safeguarding conformity and customer requirements while managing feedback to ensure continuous satisfaction.
  • Manage relationships with Authorities (civil/military), ensuring organizational approvals (DOA, POA, MOA) are fulfilled, managing on-site quality assurance, and issuing flight permits.
  • Support the Change Control Process and Configuration Baseline evolution, evaluating internal/external requirements and managing product breakdown structure changes.
  • Ensure product delivery and lifecycle tracking ("As-built" vs design approved data) through assembly, functional/flight tests, customer delivery, and maintenance.
  • Strengthen prevention and surveillance by defining and monitoring KPIs, analyzing non-conformances (NCRs), performing root cause analysis, and deploying recurrence prevention actions.
  • Develop and maintain Quality Methods and instructions within the Quality Management System (QMS) while driving process efficiency improvements.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Aeronautical Engineering, Industrial Engineering degree, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Proven experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Management Systems (QMS), or Configuration Management, preferably within the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of aeronautical organizational approvals (DOA, POA, MOA), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Root Cause Analysis/NCR management, and Configuration Control processes.
  • Soft Skills: A proactive mindset, strong communication skills across cross-functional departments, a customer-oriented attitude, and excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Languages: Advanced level of English is required. Spanish proficiency is highly valued.
  • Valuable / Nice to have: Direct interaction experience with aviation authorities (EASA, PERAM, etc.) and flight permit processes.
