About the Role
As a Quality Assurance Engineer at Rheinmetall Electronics UK, you will play a crucial role within the OMNIA Training consortium, a significant initiative aimed at transforming the British Army's training system. You will be responsible for driving quality throughout the project and product lifecycle, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplined team to ensure adherence to required standards. This position involves close collaboration with both internal teams and external customers and suppliers.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, such as AS9100 and ISO9001.
- Take ownership of resolving all quality-related matters, including conducting root cause analysis using recognised tools like 8D and/or 5 Whys.
- Work closely with delivery teams to integrate quality considerations into project planning and execution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the prime contractor on all quality-related issues.
- Conduct audits to evaluate the effectiveness of the quality system and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support goods inward inspection procedures and establish appropriate control processes detailing required inspection levels.
- Prepare equipment for release and complete Certificates of Conformity.
- Conduct internal and external quality assurance audits.
- Develop and report against key quality metrics.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in quality assurance, ideally within a defence organisation.
- A detail-oriented approach with a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., AS9100, ISO9001) and modern quality tools (e.g., 8D).
- Familiarity with New Product Implementation (NPI) processes.
- A collaborative working style with the ability to mentor others in quality processes.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of defence quality standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
