Purpose Of Job
Working under the Safety Manager, the Product Safety Practitioner will support and facilitate the four key components that support the Safety Management System (SMS): Safety policy and objectives, Safety risk management, Safety assurance, and Safety promotion.
Principal Accountabilities
The Safety Practitioner will primarily support the Safety Risk Management (SRM) activity. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the day-to-day activities within the Safety Office.
- Assessing the product safety impact of operational changes (e.g., work transfer or relocation of plant/equipment).
- Developing and implementing root cause corrective action plans and control plans.
- Assisting in SMS and Human Factors training development and delivery.
- Assessing the effectiveness of SMS training and safety promotion.
- Analyzing safety data results to improve the organisation's Safety Management System (SMS), including governance of SPIs and escalation of performance issues.
- Creating and maintaining a Hazard Log Register.
- Conducting Risk assessments and influencing mitigation processes.
- Conducting internal safety investigations.
Candidate Requirements
Candidates must possess a minimum of a HNC in an Engineering discipline and have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience within Quality, Engineering, Operations Engineering/Methods/Manufacturing or Operations. A good understanding of QMS and Regulatory requirements and Company approvals is essential, along with an awareness of SMS principles, good analytical and problem-solving skills, and an understanding of risk management processes and how to identify and manage hazards.
