About the Role
Join BAE Systems as a Principal Engineer within the Site Engineering Nuclear Substantiation team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for authoring and managing design substantiation documentation for site assets and infrastructure, directly supporting the site’s nuclear safety case. You will play a key part in ensuring the integrity and safety of critical facilities.
Core Duties
- Author and manage site assets’ & infrastructure design substantiation documentation.
- Review analyses, assessments, and calculations that support nuclear design substantiation.
- Support the periodic review of safety documentation and processes.
- Take ownership of project deliverables, demonstrating high levels of autonomy and leadership.
- Support the implementation of design substantiation requirements across projects.
- Collaborate closely with a broad range of stakeholders, including Site Safety Case, Human Factors, and Engineering Authority Teams.
- Engage with the wider business on site assets nuclear design substantiation related activities.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a complex or high-risk industry (e.g., Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Defence, Shipbuilding, Weapons).
- Degree qualified in a STEM subject, or a time-served apprentice with equivalent working experience.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical reports.
