Airbus Defence and Space is offering a PhD Thesis opportunity within the Central Research & Technology team, focusing on Quantum Navigation Systems. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or Physics.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop solutions for designing and building resilient navigation systems that combine quantum technology with state-of-the-art solutions.
  • Simulate and analyze navigation architectures that fuse classical and quantum sensor signals.
  • Participate in defining, integrating, and field-testing a flying hardware demonstrator.
  • Present research at leading international conferences and publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time Master's student in Physics, Robotics, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Quantum Technologies, or related technical fields.
  • Knowledge of classical navigation methods, sensor fusion, and state estimation theory.
  • Solid foundation in mathematics and experience with probabilistic models.
  • Basic knowledge of simulation modeling and proficiency in related software tools (Matlab/Python).
  • First experiences in quantum sensing are an asset.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience is a plus.
