Painting Hub Manager - Plymouth, Devon
At Babcock, we are building a safe and secure world, and you can be a part of it as a Painting Hub Manager in Plymouth, Devon. This is a role that's out of the ordinary, offering a unique opportunity to establish and lead a newly created Painting Hub that directly supports some of the UK's most vital submarine programmes.
You will be instrumental in shaping a new operating model, building capability, developing your team, and driving performance across painting and industrial cleaning activities. This full-time, permanent role is based at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the daily operation and development of the Painting Hub, ensuring effective resource deployment to meet project priorities.
- Chair planning and look-ahead meetings with key stakeholders to define workload priorities and delivery schedules.
- Manage team performance, foster capability development, and oversee workforce planning for a skilled and effective team.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, minimize waste, and enhance productivity and quality.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, production managers, and capability leaders to achieve safe, efficient, and high-quality results.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience leading and managing teams with diverse skill levels.
- Background in industrial painting, industrial cleaning, facilities maintenance, or similar operational environments.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and allocate resources effectively to meet operational demands.
- Experience in collaborating with multiple stakeholders and communicating effectively across different teams.
- A strong track record of driving performance improvements, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and business systems.
Qualifications:
- Essential: Experience and capability to successfully manage operational teams in a production, maintenance, or industrial setting.
- Desirable: Chartered Management Institute Level 7 qualification or equivalent, Nuclear Plant Foundation Course Module 1, IOSH Managing Safety Certification, or a Level 3 Painting Qualification.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National and able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
