About the Role

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence is seeking experienced Operational Cyber Researchers to join a leading team focused on National Security. This role involves systematically deconstructing a wide range of systems and technologies to discover and exploit design or implementation weaknesses, with a focus on making a meaningful impact on National Security.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Conduct exploratory research and assessment of diverse technologies and protocols.
  • Perform experimental development, including creating prototypes and simulations.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and prioritize research avenues for maximum customer value.
  • Utilize and configure multiple major operating systems.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively within teams to deliver high-quality reports.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Communicate technical topics effectively to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders, through presentations and reports.
  • Lead technical tasks and contribute to team success.

Adaptability and Security Mindset

  • Quickly assess new domains and technologies, selecting appropriate tools and methodologies.
  • Possess a strong security mindset, capable of identifying vulnerabilities.
  • Have a working knowledge of vulnerability assessment or penetration-testing techniques.

What We're Looking For

  • Familiarity with various tools such as IDEs, debuggers, source control, Ghidra, FRIDA, Wireshark, and VMs.
  • Proficiency in scripting or rapid prototype development.
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of computing principles (e.g., stack/heap distinction, compiled/interpreted languages).
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language.
  • Ability to quickly learn new languages and technologies.
  • Experience working in teams and leading technical tasks.
  • Desirable skills include network traffic analysis, reverse engineering, vulnerability analysis, exploit development, and knowledge of modern cryptography.
