// Role Specification

An opportunity for a Mechanical Systems Integration & Design Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Mechanical Systems Installation Team (within the Airbus Derivatives area under Military Derivatives / Air Power).

The team is responsible for Quality & Improvement related to Fuel, Hydraulic, Environmental Control System, and Equipment integration on aircraft. The jobholder will be integrated into a multidisciplinary team to cover the integration of mechanical systems for an exciting and challenging new upcoming military program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design & Development: Concept, definition, and development of design solutions for Mechanical System parts, assemblies, and installations (such as CATIA V5, CSG Full3D) for aircraft derivative programs.
  • Technical Definition & Collaboration: Establish design principles, key characteristics, interfaces, frontiers, materials, and detailed manufacturing processes in close collaboration with industrial and production teams up to the final customer.
  • Lifecycle Management: Support the complete end-to-end (E2E) product lifecycle of the aircraft using modern design processes, methods, and software applications.
  • Inter-departmental Coordination: Maintain strong ties with other Engineering Design offices (e.g., stress, loads, aerodynamics, structure design, DMU/CAD, materials & processes) to broaden interface design knowledge.
  • Stakeholder Support: Provide specialized technical knowledge to key stakeholders, including Supply Chain, Quality, Purchasing, Assembly, Chief Engineer, and Airworthiness/Certification.

SKILLS

We are looking for candidates across multiple experience levels in Engineering within a Design/Airframe Department:

  • Junior: 0 to 3 years of experience.
  • Mid-Level: 3 to 7 years of experience.
  • Senior: 7+ years of experience (with proven capabilities in managing subcontracts and multidisciplinary topics).

Required Experience:

  • Proven experience in Fluid Systems Installations (hydraulic, fuel, pneumatics) and Equipment installations (sensors, antennas, lights, cameras, cockpit).

Soft Skills:

  • High adaptability to work on new topics, new business, and in a network mode.
  • Excellent communication skills, proactivity, and team-player mindset.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate internal teams and external subcontractors.

Languages:

  • Advanced level in English (Spanish as mother tongue).
  • French is nice to have.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong structural design and/or Mechanical Systems Installation (MSI) design capability.
  • Proficient CATIA V5 knowledge and CSG Full3D experience.
  • Knowledge of French is valuable.
