Mechanical Engineer - Calibration & Maintenance

MBDA is seeking an ambitious Mechanical Engineer to join our Calibration & Maintenance team in Bolton. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join a technically engaging environment supporting manufacturing across assembly, integration, and test.

The opportunity:

Working closely with production, quality, and engineering teams, you will ensure measurement accuracy and equipment performance at every stage of the build process. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Hands-on Support: Delivering mechanical/dimensional calibration for Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) and Special to Type Test Equipment (STTE) and responsible for the creation and maintenance of instruction sets and requirements.
  • Dimensional Inspection: Leading inspection activities, including updating CMM measurement programmes and providing feedback to key stakeholders.
  • Manufacturing Liaison: Providing day-to-day dimensional calibration and inspection support for manufacturing teams, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Technical Expertise: Acting as a key technical point of contact for dimensional calibration and inspection queries within manufacturing.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contributing to the evolution of measurement methods, processes, and repeatability.
  • Specialist Support: Supporting pressure calibration activities where required.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or relevant alternative) and extensive experience with the requirements below and demonstrated experience as a technical lead.
  • Proven practical experience in dimensional calibration, such as: Micrometers / DTI's / Verniers, Plug/Thread / Ring Gauges, Sine Bars / Tables, Surface Tables / Plates.
