Materials & Processes Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for a Materials & Processes Engineer to join Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid), within the Materials & Process Department (TADAP3, M&P Development) as part of the Airframe organization. This department is responsible for Materials and Processes including Composites, Metals, Surface Treatments, Paints, Sealants, and Elastomeric Technologies, covering development, design of solutions, materials qualifications, process control, testing, and failure analysis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong balance of technical expertise in M&P projects and materials, alongside managerial skills.

Responsibilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Materials and Processes Development: Lead the research, development, and optimization of composite materials, metals, surface treatments, paints, sealants, and elastomeric technologies.
  • Specifications and Qualifications: Develop and manage technical specifications and qualifications for materials and processes for military aircraft and related products.
  • Technical Support: Advise the design, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and quality departments on material-related queries, concessions, etc.
  • Representation and Leadership: Represent TADAP3 in project meetings, MFT's, and task groups. Lead the development of process specifications and technical notes under the control of ADS SAU.
  • Test Plans Definition: Define test plans for R&T, design, and development of new technologies and materials.
  • Failure Analysis: Conduct failure analysis for the assigned scope.
  • Support to Services and Industrial Environment: Provide technical support to services, CML, and the industrial environment.

Skills and Experience

  • Education: Degree in Engineering or Science. A Master's degree in Engineering or Science is highly valued.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials and processes, with a comprehensive understanding of appropriate test methods.
  • Languages: Advanced level of English and Spanish (both written & spoken). Other languages are also appreciated.
  • Soft Skills: Flexibility, interpersonal skills, ability to find solutions, and capacity to handle pressure.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in qualifications and development of new materials, processes, and suppliers. Knowledge of aircraft maintenance, services, and CML. Deep knowledge of REACH. Experience in impact analysis and problem-solving. Knowledge of scientific and technological laboratories (materials analysis, physical observation of samples). Knowledge of material requirements for Airbus standards and quality standards. Experience in material technology development. Knowledge of materials for low observability applications, as well as thermal or electrical functionalities.
  • Mobility: Availability for relatively frequent travel.
  • Valuable/Nice to have: Experience in an international environment.
