Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Investigation and Development: Research and develop lightweight solutions for bimetallic, fatigue-resistant, and leak-free pipe feedthroughs from steel pipes into an aluminum hydrogen tank. This includes technology selection, conceptual design, feasibility proof through test plan creation, test object design, supervision of test execution, and summarizing test results in Means of Compliance documents to justify the feasibility maturity level and define design principles for future detailed designs.
  • Close Collaboration: Work closely with the development and 'Type Pipe' teams to identify and clarify critical open questions. The goal is to derive an exact test plan that ensures a fatigue-resistant and leak-tight tank feedthrough. This collaboration is crucial for defining the precise scope of your master's thesis.
  • Evaluation and Disassembly: Evaluate and disassemble feedthrough test samples and analyze test results regarding the suitability of the technology to ensure reliable tightness over the expected service life.
  • Selection of Key Features: Select key features of the tested samples and integrate them into a reliable and robust, generic design principle for future system installation designs of a hydrogen tank structure.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time Master's student (m/f/d) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable technical field of study.
  • Solid background in aviation.
  • Knowledge of hydrogen as a propulsion medium is advantageous.
  • High motivation, proactive, and creative mindset.
  • Fluent English and German language skills.
