The Role
Working in close collaboration with developers, product teams, and stakeholders, you will meticulously review requirements and user stories to identify any gaps, ambiguities, or potential issues prior to development completion. Your core responsibilities will include creating and executing detailed test cases, manually validating new features and system changes against defined business requirements.
Key duties encompass logging, tracking, and retesting defects, providing clear evidence and documentation to support their resolution. You will conduct regression testing to ensure existing functionality is not adversely affected by updates and enhancements. Furthermore, the role involves developing comprehensive test plans and producing test closure reports to aid release decisions.
Utilizing a diverse range of testing techniques, including functional, exploratory, usability, compatibility, integration, and negative testing, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality software solutions. Regular feedback and testing updates will be provided to project teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Core Duties:
- Review requirements and user stories to understand software functionality and identify unclear or missing requirements.
- Create and execute clear test scenarios, manually testing new features and changes.
- Log and manage defects clearly, including steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual results, with screenshots and evidence, and retest once fixed.
- Perform regression testing to ensure existing functionality quality remains high after changes.
- Write Test Plans detailing testing methodologies and Test Closure Reports indicating execution status and suitability for deployment.
- Carry out various testing types: functional, exploratory, usability, compatibility, negative, and integration testing.
- Collaborate closely with developers and the wider team, discussing defects, clarifying requirements, attending stand-ups, and providing testing updates and feedback.
Your Skills and Experience:
- ISTQB foundation testing qualification or equivalent experience in a manual software test role.
- Proven experience working with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Xray, and reporting tools like Tableau and Cognos.
- An analytical mindset with the ability to use relevant data and information to solve problems.
- Knowledge of SQL and TDV (Test, Design, Verification).
