Lead Quality Engineer
Join BAE Systems and become a pivotal member of our Quality team. This is a lead role focused on ensuring operational compliance to rigorous specifications and quality standards. You will play a crucial part in resolving quality issues and supporting both internal and external audit processes, contributing to the delivery of advanced, technology-led defence solutions.
Core Duties:
- Provide line management responsibility for Quality Team direct reports.
- Offer subject matter expertise regarding quality standards, operations tools, and techniques.
- Represent the Quality function within technical forums, working groups, and Central/CTO activities.
- Collaborate with the Quality Team to develop plans for operational improvement, enhancements in quality compliance, and monitoring of progress against plans.
- Support the resolution of quality issues, the internal audit process, external audits, and any audit Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Support Process Readiness Reviews (PRR) / APQP, performing Quality Department reviews of process readiness and aiding in the optimisation of these processes.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Possess qualifications in an engineering discipline (e.g., Science or Engineering degree, HNC, HND) or have served time in an Engineering discipline.
- Demonstrate excellent numeracy and mechanical comprehension.
- Show demonstrable experience with statistical control methods and systems, with a proven ability to implement and use them appropriately.
- Have experience within a manufacturing environment of a similarly highly controlled nature (e.g., aerospace, automotive, nuclear, medical devices).

This specific role is focused on our underwater battlespace activities based at Broad Oak, Portsmouth.
