This role is integral to enhancing MBDA's mechanical technologies and capabilities, ensuring readiness for future product challenges. You will engage with a diverse array of topics and gain exposure to a broad spectrum of Mechanical Engineering disciplines.
You will have the autonomy to propose ideas for future research and secure funding to develop these concepts through dedicated projects. Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and academic institutions is encouraged. There is also the potential to be involved in multi-national projects, which may include international travel.
The role requires a Degree/HND/HNC qualification along with practical experience in Mechanical Design, particularly within a research and development context, and a demonstrated ability to integrate technology into products. You should be proficient in managing work packages, leading rapid development activities, and working autonomously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial, along with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively with stakeholders across the organisation. A proactive, helpful attitude, combined with a calm and professional demeanour, will enable you to set priorities and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ideal candidates will possess experience in technology development and have a proven track record of collaborating with SMEs and academia. A solid understanding of structural and thermal considerations in mechanical design is expected. Experience with composite design would be a significant advantage. Proficiency in relevant 3D CAD/CAE software is required, though training on MBDA's preferred CAE tools will be provided.
