Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid) for a Junior Armament Systems & Weapon Integration Engineer. This role is responsible for the end-to-end development and integration of armament systems, associated equipment, and weapon/store integration into aerial platforms. The successful candidate will ensure all systems meet the highest levels of performance, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout their lifecycle.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- System Development: Manage the full product lifecycle from concept to retirement, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and program requirements.
- Technical Analysis: Perform trade-off analyses, validate architectures, and lead performance analysis to optimize system solutions.
- System Design: Define architectures for Armament Control Systems, Stores Management Systems, and Weapon Bay/Carriage systems in cooperation with suppliers or partners. Lead the preparation and technical assessment of documentation for armament systems and stores integration.
- Interface & Requirement Management: Define interfaces and technical requirements across system, subsystem, and equipment levels, conducting impact analysis.
- Integration Activities: Lead the technical integration of weapons, stores, and armament systems by developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and performing technical assessments to ensure seamless operational capability.
- Safety & Documentation: Prepare and assess technical and safety documentation for armament systems and stores integration.
- Testing & Qualification: Develop system test benches and define ground/flight test requirements for qualification and certification.
- Airworthiness and Certification: Ensure airworthiness compliance through the management of qualification reports and generation of certification documents.
- Supplier Management: Act as the primary technical point of contact for suppliers, ensuring technical alignment and compliance with system requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering degree or a related discipline.
- Experience: 0 to 5 years in Aircraft Systems Integration.
- Languages: Advanced level in English & Spanish (both written & spoken).
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of systems integration and systems development and validation (V&V process).
- Valuable: Knowledge of Weapon/Stores characteristics and integration, Armament/Stores Management Systems, Aircraft Systems, DOORS, Matlab/Simulink, C++.
- Soft Skills: High adaptability to work on new topics and in a networking mode.
