ILS Lead Engineer

About the Role

This position is for an ILS Lead Engineer, responsible for the Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) activities on behalf of the Configuring Service within the OMNIA programme. Reporting directly to the Configuring Service Lead, you will drive REUK’s ILS efforts, contributing to the transformation of the British Army’s training system.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of Rheinmetall Electronics UK’s (REUK) Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) activities within the OMNIA ACTS programme, supporting Army Collective Training Service (ACTS) capabilities across Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) environments.
• Plan, coordinate, and deliver REUK’s allocated ILS workshare, ensuring ILS activities, documentation, and supportability outputs meet required quality, schedule, and engineering standards.
• Provide technical leadership to ILS Engineers, while remaining hands-on in the development, review, and assurance of ILS artefacts.
• Collaborate with OMNIA consortium partners, OEMs, Engineering teams, Delivery Teams, and Army stakeholders to ensure REUK’s ILS activities integrate effectively with the wider ACTS support solution.
• Coordinate and assure ILS activities delivered by REUK’s subcontractors, ensuring ILS requirements are understood, deliverables are reviewed, and subcontractor outputs are integrated into REUK’s overall ACTS ILS workshare.
• Support the introduction of new capabilities while maintaining effective support arrangements for legacy systems, using evidence-based approaches to enhance availability, maintainability, and through-life support.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrable experience leading ILS activities within complex engineering programmes, with the ability to produce, review, and assure ILS deliverables directly.
• Strong understanding of ILS principles, including support concepts, maintenance planning, provisioning, technical documentation, obsolescence management, and supportability analysis.
• Experience providing technical guidance, mentoring engineers or specialists, reviewing engineering outputs, and resolving complex technical issues.
• Experience developing and assuring ILS artefacts throughout acquisition, integration, service introduction, and in-service support phases.
• Experience working with customers, suppliers, OEMs, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate supportability activities.
• Experience coordinating ILS activities across suppliers and subcontractors, including requirement flow-down and review of deliverables.
• Experience using operational data, maintenance information, or reliability trends to support evidence-based decisions for availability, maintainability, and lifecycle support.
• Experience supporting the transition of new capabilities into service while maintaining support for existing systems.

Desirable Experience

• Supporting military simulation within Live, Virtual, or Constructive (LVC) training systems.
• Knowledge of Army training and support environments.
• C2 system experience (e.g., Bowman, Sitaware, TAK).
• Experience with RAM analysis, LSA, or LORA.
• Knowledge of configuration management and technical publications.
• Experience managing obsolescence in complex electronic systems.
• Familiarity with cloud-hosted or hybrid training systems.
• Working knowledge of IP networking and communications technologies.
• Experience with Tactical Engagement Simulation (TES) instrumentation, targetry, or associated data paths.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
