Firefighter
Join BAE Systems at our Warton Aerodrome location as a Firefighter, where you will be instrumental in providing essential rescue and firefighting support. You will respond to a range of emergencies, including aircraft incidents, building emergencies, and medical situations, ensuring the safety of colleagues and the wider site community. As part of the Rescue Fire Fighting Service (RFFS), you will maintain high levels of operational readiness through rigorous training, equipment checks, and assessments, delivering a professional and effective emergency response.
Core Duties:
- Respond to aircraft incidents, building emergencies, medical emergencies, and other critical situations across the licensed aerodrome area.
- Conduct routine station duties, inspections, and operational checks of rescue and firefighting equipment to ensure readiness.
- Participate in mandatory training, exercises, and competency assessments to maintain and enhance required skills and knowledge.
- Uphold the required levels of operational fitness, training, and professional competence as per Fire Service standards.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and other teams across Warton Aerodrome to deliver a seamless emergency response service.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience as a Firefighter in a Local Authority, aviation, military, or similar operational environment.
- A current, recognized Firefighter qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 Operational Firefighter, CAP 699/CAA certification, MOD equivalent, or comparable).
- Possession of a recognized Breathing Apparatus Wearer qualification and a current First Aid certificate (or equivalent).
- A full UK driving licence, with an LGV Category C licence or the willingness and ability to obtain one.
- GCSEs or equivalent in English, Maths, and Science, coupled with the physical fitness required to pass a Fire Service medical.

The RFFS plays a crucial role in supporting both civil and military aircraft operations at Warton Aerodrome. The team is dedicated to providing operational emergency response across the site, benefiting from regular training and development opportunities. A recognized rank structure is in place to support career progression within the service.
