Field Support Representative (Training Systems)

Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) is a leading UK defence engineering company, specializing in the design, manufacture, and support of military vehicles for domestic and international clients. We are currently seeking a Field Support Representative to join our team at the Bovington site.

Position Overview

The Field Support Representative will play a crucial role in the maintenance of the Challenger 3 Precision Gunnery Training Equipment and Terrier Mission Crew Trainers. We are looking for candidates with a practical, hands-on approach who can effectively operate within a maintainer and user training environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of user and customer culture, along with the necessary interpersonal skills, bearing, and ability to communicate effectively at all hierarchical levels, both verbally and in writing. This role reports directly to the Field Support Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day training equipment activities and foster continuous development of user and customer relationships to deliver cost-effective technical support across various UK locations.
  • Resolve technical queries generated by users and maintainers, and manage the processing of Line Replacement Units (LRUs).
  • Perform configuration control activities for contracted equipment by providing build state information for platforms, systems, or sub-systems.
  • Effectively work with minimal supervision, as part of a team, or individually.
  • Support the planning and implementation of retrofit, modification, and conversion programs, including training other staff members where qualified.
  • Provide technical support for all training equipment activities, including equipment failure diagnosis and LRU removal/replacement.
  • Perform or assist with 'off-site' planned and on-condition maintenance for CR2 & Terrier training equipment.
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning, and acceptance of RBSL products into service.
  • Identify training deficiencies within user units, propose cost-saving measures and improvements, and suggest enhancements to maintenance policy, procedures, technical documentation, and planning to improve the R&M of RBSL products.

Required Qualifications and Skills

As a Field Support Representative, your skills and qualifications should ideally include:

  • Formally qualified Electronic/electrical background.
  • Instructor/Teaching qualification.
  • MOD or Military (REME) experience.
  • The ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams is essential.
  • CR2 & Terrier platform expertise and competence with L1 & L2 maintenance tasks as a minimum.
  • UK MOD ‘SC’ security clearance is required. (RBSL will sponsor the application if the candidate does not currently hold SC). Candidates must declare any known concerns they may have in achieving security clearance during their application.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

  • Formally qualified electronic/electrical vehicle systems background.
  • Turret and Vehicle Hull & Sub system installations & fault-finding experience.
  • Tracked vehicle licence (H Licence).
  • IOSH working safely accreditation.
