Role Overview

Rheinmetall Electronics UK Ltd. is seeking an experienced Facilities Security professional for a six-month consultancy contractor assignment. This role will focus on assessing, improving, and strengthening the organisation's facilities security capability. It requires providing expert guidance and independent assessment of existing facilities security arrangements, rather than day-to-day operational security administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Security Review & Assessment: Conduct comprehensive reviews of current facilities security arrangements, assessing policies, procedures, and governance against MOD and Government security requirements. Identify compliance gaps, operational risks, and benchmark practices against defence industry best practice.
  • Security Improvement: Develop practical recommendations to improve facilities security maturity, produce prioritised improvement roadmaps, and lead the implementation of agreed improvements across the business.
  • MOD Compliance: Provide subject matter expertise on MOD Facility Security requirements, advise on compliance with relevant MOD security policies (including GovS 007 and Facility Security Clearance requirements), and support security assurance activities.
  • Business Consulting: Act as a trusted security advisor, working collaboratively with various departments (Facilities, IT, HR, Commercial, Engineering, Operations) to embed effective security controls and facilitate workshops to improve security awareness.
  • Process Improvement: Analyse current processes for facilities security management, recommend improvements to governance, reporting, and assurance activities, and enhance documentation and records management.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Coach and mentor internal teams to improve long-term security capability, provide guidance on emerging MOD security expectations, and support the development of sustainable facilities security processes.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Significant experience as a Facilities Security Controller (FSC) or equivalent within a UK Defence environment.
  • Strong MOD background with a detailed understanding of defence security compliance and experience interpreting and implementing MOD security policy.
  • Demonstrable experience reviewing and improving security governance, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to assess organisational security maturity and recommend practical improvements.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, consulting, influencing senior leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including report writing and executive presentations.
  • Ability to work independently while engaging effectively across multiple business functions.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain the required UK National Security Clearance.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience delivering security consultancy or transformation projects.
  • Experience supporting organisations through security maturity improvements.
  • Knowledge of NPSA guidance, GovS 007, FSC, IPSA, and Security Aspects Letters.
  • Experience within defence manufacturing or engineering organisations.
  • Recognised security qualifications or MOD security training.
